The Story of Pshyk
Not long ago, we were celebrating the birthday of our beloved cat, who has become one of the most important parts of our lives. His name is Pshyk [pʃɪk], and the way he got that name is exactly what inspired this project.
The story goes like this: one day, my partner and I visited a local pet market. Even before we arrived, I said that if we were ever going to adopt a cat, it had to look like a piece of cloud had fallen from the sky — fluffy, soft, and magical. And then we saw him. The moment we laid eyes on this tiny creature, we knew he was the one. It was love at first sight.
"He's the reason behind it all. This little, fluffy ball of grump is what motivates me to do things I'd never have gotten done by myself. I have no idea where I find the energy to love him so much, but it feels like a well that will never run dry."
We did the basics — vet checks, food, toys — and finally brought him home. But then came the big question: what should we call him? As soon as we let him explore, he walked around the room confidently but hissed at everything he met. Every touch, every sound was answered with a little "Pshhh, phhh, pshhh." A tiny cloud with a fiery personality!
That sound stayed with us so much that we didn't need to think twice — his name became Pshyk. In Ukrainian, our native language, it sounds natural and playful. Today, he is grown, calm, and wise — but every now and then, he still proves that his name suits him perfectly.
Our Mission
This experience made us realize something: finding the right name for your pet is a truly special moment. That's why we created this project — to help pet owners everywhere discover names that fit their companions as perfectly as "Pshyk" fit ours.
